Hi, I'm using an ASUS U6V notebook with built-in Synaptics TouchPad PS/2 V6.2. After upgrading from Windows 7, it was quite a hassle to get the correct driver installed. Windows had substituted the OEM driver with a generic Microsoft one, which didn't support scrolling. Installing the OEM driver again failed, because it was not signed.
Finally, I was able to get a newer driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog, which installed fine and works perfectly as far as I see (v19.0.17, 07-17-15). But: It won't scroll.

The system preferences menu for mouse shows the correct device and driver, and I can change all settings in the Synaptics part. I can even set the wished area for vertical scrolling, and the options panel corresponds correclty (turning the scrolling area yellow while touching it). But it won't scroll. And I don't get why. Can someone please help me?

Available drivers are: From the ASUS website (v13.x) and from the Synaptics website (v17.x) and via Windows Update (v19.0.14). The following errors occur with each of these drivers, all being installed either normally or in compatibility mode: The ASUS driver does install correctly, but after restarting and opening the mouse preferences, I get the following error message: 'Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the Synaptics driver now?' I am then presented to either continue by uninstalling the Synaptics driver, which after a restart gives me the generic Microsoft one again, or continuing, which presents me with a completely greyed out settings panel and no way to use the driver.
